Doris Nwoko, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified psychiatric and mental health nurse and an integral part of the team at Spectrum Behavioral Health. In working with patients from New Lenox and Hinsdale, Illinois, Doris enjoys playing a role in enhancing quality of life in measurable and meaningful ways.
Education is a central area of focus for Doris. Most recently, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Continuing education helps her remain abreast of developments in the field of psychiatry.
Doris brings more than a decade of experience to her role at Spectrum Behavioral Health. Through that time, she’s strengthened her commitment to delivering culturally competent care that recognizes and incorporates each patient’s developmental and bio-psycho-social history into the therapeutic process.
Her professional areas of focus include mood disorders, substance abuse disorders, trauma, and neurodevelopmental disorders like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). She takes a holistic approach that encompasses all of the factors that make each patient a distinct individual.
Doris believes that a patient-centered mode of practice is essential to the therapeutic process. Involving the individual in their own care planning and evaluation helps those in her care feel more invested in their mental health outcomes and empowered to set and achieve new goals.
